Martin has over 20 years of practical experience as both practitioner and trainer in Health & Safety.

His professional qualifications include BSc (Mechanical Engineering and Fluid Dynamics, NEBOSH Health & Safety National Certificate, NVQ Instructor and Tech IOSH.

Martin spent 16 years in the Royal Air Force, attaining senior engineering officer ranks (aerospace engineering). His responsibilities included Engineering Management and Project Management. His specialist areas were Structural, Hydraulic and Propulsion Engineering, and also Health & Safety and Training & Development. In particular, he led risk assessment and advice teams for safety critical engineering activities in work areas employing 750 plus staff. He also spent over 2 years as Manager of the R.A.F. specialist technical training school for Nimrod, Jaguar and Buccaneer crews.

Since March 1996, Martin has worked as a Health & Safety training provider and consultant. He has serviced major clients around the world in a wide variety of disciplines, including Health & Safety training, and consultancy projects in various industries, in particular oil and gas, both onshore and offshore. His primary training specialities are behavioural safety, safety coaching and incident investigation (including root cause analysis).
